SOCCER GOALIE GLOVES BUYING GUIDE
Construction
Palms
The palm is the most important part of the soccer goalkeeper gloves. The more sticky and tacky the material is the better of a grip it will offer. Different manufacturers provide different palm materials and treatments that ensure proper grip. Various grounds such as grass, artificial turf or indoors, and wet or dry conditions have different demands on the palm.
The thicker the palm the better the grip, the more durability and the more cushioning it will provide.
Smooth Latex palms provide the best grip under most conditions.
Dimpled and textured palms are more durable than smooth latex palms, but do not offer as much grip.Closure
Many different closure types are available. The gloves should fit snug but not affect movement.
The most popular closure styles are:
- V-notch
- Hook and Loop (Velcro)
- Bandage
Sizing
Soccer Goalkeeper Glove sizes are based on the size of the hand. Most goalkeepers prefer to have a larger glove than is actually necessary. This gives them a larger palm surface area. Glove sizes roughly correspond to shoe sizes.
To get an accurate measure of glove size:
- Measure with a tape measure around the widest part of your palm, excluding the thumb.
- Measure both hands and use the larger measurement.
- Round up to a full number.
- Add 1 to that number. This is the correct glove size.
Care
Do NOT machine wash, dry clean or machine dry the gloves.
After use clean and air dry the gloves.
