Puma was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler in Herzogenaurach, Germany. He was the brother of Adolf Dassler, the founder of Adidas. After a feud the brothers went their separate ways and started their own sporting good companies, both still headquartered to this day in the same sleepy Bavarian village.
Puma is best known for their soccer shoes and sponsorship of some of the best teams and players in the world, including the Italian national team and Pele, Lothar Matthäus, and Diego Maradona.
